I really recommend the vibratory sieve shaker. It is suspended from overhead by a cable or chain, or you can fabricate a stand. There is a bottom funnel that will discharge the liquid and fines into a bucket, and the top can be left open to add more material or wash water. The vibratory motion tends to cause the bed of material to rotate on the sieve cloth and keeps the "near size" material from clogging the cloth:
