Hi

Does anybody know if Nitric Acid can dissolve Silver Sulphide? To any extent?

Hi Dave:
Silver sulphide should be soluable in nitric acid. You could try it, and may need to warm up the acid to speed the reaction up, and be sure to use diluted acid (maybe 1:1?)- often times you need the water present for the reaction. Let us know how it works out!

Silver sulfide melts in strong acids like sulfuric acid and nitric acid. However it does not melt in hydrochloric acid.
