Selenium interference

I have an ore that I suspect has a fair amount of naumanite, a silver selenide (I think),. My question is : is selenium removed by roasting like tellurides and sulfides? If so is the roast carried out the same as with tellurides and sulfides?

Thanks for any help

Hi Rook:
The short answer is, yes. You may have to do a little trial and error to determine the best roasting temperature, but I would start in the 1300F-1500F range. You may also need to experiment to find the optimum roasting time (I would start with 6-8 hours, but you may be able to decrease this). I would suggest running a quick selenium assay on your initial sample, and after roasting. This will tell you how much you really have, and if the roasting is effective.
