Hi:
I don't think this is the proper forum to help with your question. This particular forum deals with health and safety aspects of working with silica- typically in a mining laboratory environment. I would be surprised if those in the forum know about silicon wafers and related topics.

i tried to upload some pictures.

i lined the inside of a cast iron pot with bricks from the back yard.
i put a small chunk of quartz in an old glove and pounded it with a hammer.

from the refrigerator box of soda i took about half a teaspoon
and added it to the quartz powder.

in a tablespoon carefully balanced in the bottom of the pot and bricks
i applied a propane torch for a few minutes and was rewarded with
glowing red hot fused quartz chips.

someone who knows more about it please advise me how to improve this
experiment.

i want to eventually withdraw a silicon wafer.

thanks in advance
